Ford Escape: Parking Aid - Vehicles With: Active Park Assist / Description and Operation - Parking Aid - Overview
Overview - Active Park Assist
The
active park assist system is a full-assisted parking system. The system
assists parking into and out (assist out of parking spots only
available for parallel parking) of parking spaces. Sensors are used to
detect parking spaces. The system then steers, accelerates, brakes and
shifts gears as required to maneuver into or out of a parking space.
The PAM
uses input from the active park assist sensors, parking aid sensors
and a geometrical equation to determine whether the vehicle fits in the
parking space. If it is determined the vehicle will fit in the parking
space, the PAM requests the correct steering angles from the PSCM and the correct vehicle speed from the PCM
during the parking maneuvers. The system visually and/or audibly
instructs the operator to park the vehicle through messages in the
centerstack infotainment display and audio system warning chimes.

Overview
Multiplexing
is a method of sending 2 or more signals simultaneously over a single
circuit. Multiplexing allows 2 or more electronic modules (nodes) to
communicate over a twisted wire pair [data (+) and data (-)] network.
The information or messages that can be communicated on these wires
consists of commands, status or data. Multiplexing reduces the weight of
the vehicle by reduci..
